I have had my drobo 2 for 6 months, and it have given me nothing but problems. It is slow and you can never relay on it. I have four 2td hdd loaded in full of important data and now all my data may be lost.

The drobo really sucks hard. I wich I had never bought the device.

I know this is a bit old, but the "file" utility does not give a mime-type by default. Use file --mime-type and you're likely to see something much closer to what python shows.

Thanks for posting this. I went to drobo's website to find out if my notorious Seagate 1.5TB drives would work in a drobo. After being given ZERO ways to contact drobo, or to read their paranoia fora I went web hunting. It looks like drobo owners are as frustrated as I have been with Netgear ReadyNAS, which has given me FIVE YEARS of anguish, lost data, lost sleep.... I sure wish there were an option for RELIABLE DATA STORAGE out there in an affordable, easy to implement form. It's looking like the most reliable solution is to build my own Linux boxes with SATA RAID controllers. That also gives the extra benefit that if the computer or disk controller goes out, the drives can go into another machine for a fraction of the cost of a replacement Drobo/NAS.

Thanks for steering me away from Drobo! I was way too close to wasting yet more money I can't afford in this Depression.

I wanted to find out how well DroboPro supported iSCSI since i'd like to just pool all my disks or their backup targets into a single drobo over GB LAN.

The knowledge base says that iSCSI can't be connected to by more than one computer at a time? If i could only read the user discussion forum, then i could see other peoples' experience with iSCSI.

But since i can't get useful user feedback, the next easier thing is to buy an iSCSI enabled NAS like netgear or QNAP.

Great post!

Only one thing! I have to change the regexp for get the host1 and host2 fields success, removing the question marks inside each of the capturing groups, so instead of:

FORMAT = ...(?[^\r\n]\d+)...

I write

FORMAT = ...([^\r\n]\d+)...

Thanks!
