If you commute regularly knowing when and where you’re going to hit traffic is a life saver. We’re lucky enough to live in a state that went broke producing things like the CHP Traffic Incident Information Page. Until now this information was completely web based, rendering it useless to people on the go. That’s why I created the CHP CAD (computer aided dispatch) Twitter bot: http://twitter.com/chpcad
This FAQ is a work in progress, please email me if you have any questions that aren’t answered here..
FAQ
- I get an error when I click on the links.
- How do i get updates to my phone?
- Can I filter the feed to specific areas?
- How as this bot created?
When clicking on the links included with each tweet you may encounter this error:
Microsoft VBScript runtime error '800a01a8' Object required: 'rsD' /iiqr.asp, line 60
This is caused by the CHP CAD website requiring a cookie before showing live CHP CAD data. To receive this cookie first visit the CHP CAD website, then reload the link from the tweet.
Log into twitter and browse to the chpcad twitter feed.

Also visit the Twitter Phone FAQ.
Right now there’s no way to filter tweets from the primary chpcad bot, but there is an area specific bot for san francisco: http://twitter.com/chpcad_sf (for my friends in LA, an LA bot is in the works: http://twitter.com/chpcad_la)
Lots of coffee.

Very awesome GBA.
Very cool, can you narrow it down further like the filters on the CHP CAD site? I am in Pleasanton, I don’t really care about a flat tire in Petaluma
looks like it’s not updating anymore… last update was Sept 15th
